The DSGVO was drawn up by the European Union as one of the strictest data protection laws in history, which came into force on May 25, 2018. It introduces strict standards for the protection of personal data and privacy and improves the level and scope of protection of personal data. No matter where a company is based, it must comply with the DSGVO when processing personal data of an EU citizen when providing products or services. Through its cooperation with TÜV Rheinland, Dahua wants to ensure that all requirements of the DSGVO are met.
Under the agreement, TÜV Rheinland will work with Dahua Technology's internal data compliance team to provide comprehensive joint design and testing services for Dahua's IP cameras, network video recorders, software platforms, intelligent servers and many other solutions. TÜV Rheinland's services are based on the DSGVO and TÜV internal standard 2PfG and include hardware and firmware, processing of confidential data, local communications, Internet connections, applications, penetration testing and factory inspections. Products that pass the test and receive the TÜV Rheinland seal of approval for data protection for IoT products thus comply with the DSGVO and thus information security and data protection.
"As a leading solution provider in the global video surveillance industry, Dahua has always placed great emphasis on the privacy and data security of users. The strategic cooperation with TÜV Rheinland is in line with Dahua's mission to enable a safer society and a smarter life. Through years of continuous effort, Dahua has created a foundation for data oversight. We are convinced that Dahua's data oversight capability will reach a new peak with the support of TÜV Rheinland's professional services, thus consolidating our momentum in the global market," said Zhang Xingming, Managing Director of Dahua Technology.
Due to the global scope of the DSGVO, manufacturers and exporters of IoT products in China will face significant impact. In order to help such companies to better cope with the DSGVO, TÜV Rheinland, which has many years of experience in the field of information security, has created the Data Protection Certification Service for IoT products. This brand new service based on the DSGVO will help IoT manufacturers to fully comply with the new law, to successfully enter the European market and to take advantage of market opportunities in a more timely manner", says Yang Jiajie, Vice President of TÜV Rheinland Electrical Business in Greater China. Regarding the importance of this strategic cooperation, he added: "Dahua Technology is one of the first companies to work with TÜV Rheinland to use the certification service for data protection in IoT products, demonstrating its respect for privacy and its positive and fast response to market changes. We will combine our respective professional skills and improve the competitiveness of the industry.
Dahua Technology's goal is to become a world leader in video-based intelligent IoT solutions and services, and improving the privacy of its IoT products is a fundamental and important step in this process. The imminent entry into force of the DSGVO will provide the global security industry with a standard that everyone must comply with, thereby significantly improving the security of personal data and the protection of privacy. With the vision of "Safer Society, Smarter Living", Dahua continues to focus on "innovation, quality and service" to serve its partners and customers around the world.
